Did you know that?the majority?of the signs of premature aging of the skin are related to excessive sun exposure?? Damaging UVA and UVB rays can lead to fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and more tragically skin cancer. What is so scary about skin cancer is that many people feel that tanning is generally OK and therefore you have a limited risk of developing skin cancer.? Furthermore,?some mistakenly think?that you have to burn your skin in order to be at risk of developing skin cancer.?

However,?the truth is that there are many differing points of view on this matter and you do not have to necessarily?burn your skin?to put yourself?at risk.?Rather, unprotected exposure to the sun's rays may increase you chances of developing skin cancer. And, while we all love the look of a tan,?it has been thought that a tan is actually?your body's attempt to protect itself from the sun's harmful rays. So, that beautiful looking golden tan may actually be skin damage!


Since the warmer weather is here and many of us will be spending more time outdoors, I wanted to pass along a few tips that can help you protect your skin from the?sun's damaging rays. One simple way to guard your skin is to wear protective clothing.? Such as, a long sleeved shirt, pants, large brimmed hats and sunglasses?with UV protection are great ways to shield your skin from the sun.? Next tip, try to always?wear a SPF!!!?When it comes to SFP, it is thought that the higher the SPF level the better?because it?will give you more protection from the sun. Be sure to cover all areas of your?body including commonly missed areas like your feet, scalp, neck and ears.? Furthermore, sunscreen must be reapplied after coming out of the water and?sweating?and reapplied every 4 hours of sun exposure or as directed.? Lastly, be sure to use?a sufficient amount?of sunscreen, typically that which is recommended by your health care provider or product manufacturer.?

It is also important that you?have a routine check of all your moles especially those have changed in appearance or look funny to you checked out by a health care professional.?
