Bill Mack, the Kenner businessman who bribed Jefferson Parish President Aaron Broussard for help in getting public contracts, won't be sentenced until July 11, U.S. District Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown has decided. She postponed the date Wednesday, at the request of prosecutors and Mack's defense attorney.
Mack is one five defendants, all of whom have admitted crimes, awaiting sentencing in the government's investigation of political corruption during Broussard's 2004-10 administration. He had been scheduled for sentencing Jan. 10.
Broussard, former parish attorney Tom Wilkinson and Broussard's ex-wife, Karen Parker, are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 25. The fifth defendant, Tim Whitmer, who was Broussard's chief administrative officer, has a Nov. 29 sentencing date.
